Radiomics is a gradually expanding area that is rapidly emerging as a personalised medicine technology and is currently one of the most interesting fields of research.
To understand what Radiomics is, it is essential to know that the radiological images we know, obtained using CT scanning, MRI or PET, are much richer in information than they may seem by visual analysis.
In fact, using radiomics techniques, it is possible to calculate numerical data from the images, handle them and analyse them to extrapolate indications regarding the tumour and regarding the therapies to be implemented, thus achieving an even more personalised treatment.
At IEO, our specialists are working hard so that, in the near future, the data collected from radiological imaging tests can be converted into quantitative data and can act as a support for decision-making in terms of clinical practice, in order to improve diagnostic accuracy and prognostic power.
