Radiomic and Prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is a leading cause of death by cancer among men. The “1000 prostates project” is a monocentric retrospective study promoted by IEO that aims at building mp-MRI-based prognostic and predictive radiomic models in prostate cancer patients who underwent radical prostatectomy at IEO. With more than 1000 patients considered, it represents one of the largest studies ever conducted in this clinical setting. On the other hand, the availability of such a huge dataset required the automatization of the whole radiomic workflow and incentivised the development and validation of high-end auto-contouring techniques based on artificial intelligence. Preliminary results on smaller cohorts of patients treated with radiotherapy within a prospective phase II trial sponsored by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) have been already published.
