MEET THE EXPERTS
A short trip in the perspectives of Proton Therapy for the next years
Milan, 11th october 2022
Several diseases have been treated with proton therapy for many years in the world. Outcome data, obtained on more than 200,000 patients treated, are now mature, and the demonstration of the value of proton therapy for their treatment is widely appreciated.
In Milan, at IEO, a Center for proton therapy is under construction. The opening is planned for September 2023.
This is a great opportunity for clinics and research. The potentiality of proton therapy has not been fully explored, for this reason IEO organizes a meeting, with few and well recognized speakers, really expert in the field of particle therapy, in order to give the opportunity to look into the next future, with a short trip in the perspectives on radiobiology, physics, and clinics.
Fabiola Gianotti, Director of CERN, will address the fundamental role of this Institution in developing the medical sciences related to basic and translational physics.
Time will be dedicated to the IEO project, including a short visit of the Center.
