Training Programme
Programme starts in January each year. Application deadline is the 15th of November for the following year. The training course is open to all Physicians with Clinical Specialization in either gynecology or general surgery. Trainees participate theory and educational surgery session as well as clinical and technical training. Maximum of 16 attendees per year
Educational Objectives:

Share our extensive knowledge of methods and techniques both practical and theoretical, frequently used in oncological surgery

Provide theoretical and technical tools to solve the most frequent clinical problems in the surgical treatment of gynecologic oncological patient

Examine and understand the global impact and the most recent developments in surgical techniques and procedures

Understand the latest technological applications of minimally-invasive, robot-assisted, and open surgery in relation to gynecologic oncology
Duration: 5 weeks over one calendar year
Dates & Scheduling: Training weeks at IEO are limited to 2 doctors at a time. Once accepted into a program, you can coordinate your training weeks.
Clinical Rotations: Gynecology, General Surgery, structured as follow:
- 5 weeks with the surgical team of the Division of Gynecolgy, also taking part in the activities of the Division of Gastro-intestinal
- Out-patient clinic with the teams of the Division of Gynecology and Gynecologic Medical Oncology
- Ward rounds and case discussions
- Journal club with IEO researchers
- Tumour board – discussion on the surgical cases also with the pathologist
- Multidisciplinary meetings with the team of the Division of Radiology, Radiotherapy and Interventional Radiology
- Laparoscopic activity
- Training on robotic simulator
Surgical activity @ IEO: OR from 08:00-20:00 with 7 sessions each week (twice a week there will be double sessions) with 14 major surgeries.
Theory session: 2-3 days in Autumn (ate will change every years and will be provided to participant).
All trainees will get a password to access webcast of ESAGON ehere they will be able to visualize theory e live surgery sessions.
Admissions & Fee: € 3.000 for the year (22% VAT not included). These fees are reduced for physicians coming from low-middle income countries.
It is not included:
- Travel expenses to the Milan
- Accommodation
- Dining facilities
- Ground transportation in Milan
Extras: Trainees may also decide (paying an extra fee) to attend our cadaver lab or to extend the duration of the course for 2 calendar years (5 weeks each years) with a reduced cost of € 5.000.
